Braving the Cold: My Top Winter Skincare Essentials
I do a lot of traveling between Western NY, the Hudson Valley and NYC. Winters upstate can be cold to say the least. It was no wonder with the colder outdoor temps, heavier winds and higher indoor heating that my skin felt so dry and irritated. I adjusted my everyday skincare routine to include my favorite essentials to help protect and hydrate my skin all winter long.
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream CeraVe was recommended to me years ago by a dermatologist and it’s been a favorite ever since. I use the Moisturizing Cream both morning and night. It has a rich and creamy texture, perfect for my dry skin in lower temps. It hydrates without feeling greasy so I can layer it with other products.
elta MD UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 Sunscreen is must for my skin all year round but even more so in the winter when uv rays can reflect off of snow. Elta MD goes on smooth and absorbs quickly into my skin. I don’t experience any pilling or white cast, it looks great under my makeup!
eos Lip Balm I am a lip balm girl and usually buy several at a time so I can have one (or two) at home, one for the car, different bags, the list could go on… My personal preference, lip balm in a tube for easy application and less mess. Eos lip balm has a soft scent, feels moisturizing and adds a pretty shine.
Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy Aquaphor is one of my multi-purpose products. I spend a lot of time outdoors and use it to protect my skin from the wind and cold, a light layer usually does the trick. If I feel extra dry, I spot apply to those areas for overnight. Don’t think for a second I forget to take care of my hands, they get moisturizer with a layer of Aquaphor on top before my head hits the pillow!
